Taco Pie

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or ground turkey

  • 1 package taco seasoning

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves minced garlic

  • 1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chiles

  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles

  • 1 (8 oz) medium thick and smooth taco sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups refried beans

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mexican cheese

  • 6 burrito size flour tortillas

Preheat oven to 350.

In a large nonstick saucepan brown ground beef. Last few minutes of browning add onion and garlic and saute until translucent. Drain grease.


Stir in taco seasoning, chiles, Rotel and taco sauce. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.

In a large baking dish layer pie as directed-

1.) 2 tortillas

2.) 1/2 cup beans spread on the top tortilla

3.) 1/3 of meat mixture

4.) 1/2 cup cheese

5.) 2 tortillas

6.) 1/2 cup beans spread on the top tortilla

7.) 1/3 of meat mixture

8.) 1/2 cup cheese

9.) 2 tortillas

10.) 1/2 cup beans spread on the top tortilla

11.) last of meat mixture

12.) 1/2 cup cheese


Cover baker with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Uncover and bake 10 minutes until cheese is melted.

Let cool 10 minutes and slice into 16 pieces.


Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and sour cream.
