  • 2 pounds peeled, cored and quartered Granny Smith apples

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1/4 cup or 2 ounces Red Hot Imperial Candies

Cover apples with water in a large sauce pot.

Heat to boiling then cover pot and reduce heat to medium low. Simmer 18-20 minutes or until tender.

Use potato masher to mash to desired consistency.

Add candies and sugar to apples and cook over medium low heat uncovered until everything is melted and combined- 3 to 5 minutes.

Transfer to bowl. Let cool and then refrigerate.

Makes 3 pounds or about 6 cups worth!
