  • 3 cups all purpose flour, sifted (you must sift the flour or the result will be a brick of inedible overly dense bread)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 12 ounces light beer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, divided

Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a loaf pan.

In a large bowl mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and beer. Pour into loaf pan and spread evenly with a spoon.

Melt 1/4 cup of butter and pour on top of the loaf. At this point you can bake the bread or sprinkle some seeds on top. I sprinkled everything bagel seasoning on mine.

Bake for 60 minutes and then remove from oven and melt the remaining 1/4 cup of butter and pour onto cooked bread.

Let loaf cool 15 minutes before slicing.
